Final message from the Executive Director, Dr Brian Richards
This month, my message is of a more personal nature, as I’m sharing the news of my upcoming retirement. My last day as AICIS Executive Director is 30 September 2020. It has been a great privilege to serve as Director of NICNAS since 2012, as well as having the responsibility for overseeing the development of AICIS and being its inaugural Executive Director. I’m leaving in the knowledge that AICIS is a truly excellent and innovative regulatory scheme served by a team of talented and dedicated staff.
The Minister for Regional Health, Regional Communications and Local Government – the Hon Mark Coulton MP – has appointed Dr Roshini Jayewardene as Acting Executive Director of AICIS with effect from 1 October 2020, until the outcome of a merit-based recruitment process is known. Many of you already know Dr Jayewardene and I’m pleased that the baton is being passed on to a capable and highly experienced officer with expert knowledge across all areas of AICIS. I wish her well in the role.
Finally, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you, our stakeholders, for your interest, feedback and involvement over the years. Your contributions have been highly valued, particularly in the development of the new scheme. I hope that you continue to stay informed and engaged with AICIS in its journey. The effects of the current pandemic create a challenging time and I wish you all the best going forward. Thank you and farewell.
Dr Brian Richards
