Infringement notice issued to unregistered importer

We recently issued an infringement notice to a person or business for importing an industrial chemical without being registered with us. Of particular concern was the fact that the imported chemical is known to cause a range of harmful human health effects. AICIS inspectors, with the assistance of the Australian Border Force, seized and destroyed the chemical. The importer was fined for this breach.

If you import or manufacture (introduce) industrial chemicals without a valid AICIS registration, you are in breach of the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019 and can face fines of up to 60 penalty units ($13,320).
