Variation of Inventory listing following evaluation – 1 August 2022

The Executive Director is varying the terms of the Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals (the Inventory) for the following chemical in accordance with Industrial Chemicals Act (IC Act) 2019 (s) 86.

Specific information requirements as varied Obligations to provide information apply. You must tell the Executive Director within 20 working days if: 
  • the function or use of the chemical has changed or is likely to change significantly from a component of refrigerant for MVACs and stationary air conditioning and refrigeration systems
  • the container of the notified chemical for use in professional servicing of MVAC systems is greater than 23 L in size 
  • the container of the notified chemical for consumer use as do-it-yourself servicing of motor vehicle MVAC systems is greater than 396 g in size 
  • the amount of chemical being introduced has increased, or is likely to increase, significantly (≥150 tonnes annually) 
  • the chemical has begun to be manufactured in Australia
Reason the listing is to be varied The Executive Director has completed an evaluation of the chemical (EVA00049) under Part 4 of the IC Act 2019. Public consultation was conducted as part of the evaluation in accordance with the IC Act 2019, s75. The Executive Director concluded as part of the evaluation that a variation to the listing is necessary to manage the risks to human health and the environment from the introduction or use of the industrial chemical.
