As part of our annual update to the Industrial Chemicals Categorisation Guidelines (Guidelines), we have compiled all the upcoming changes to the Guidelines in September 2026, including some proposals that are open for public comments. 

This consultation covers the following topics:

  • Part 1 – Updates to the list of chemicals with high hazards for categorisation (for information only)
  • Part 2 – High hazard salts and esters (open for comment)
  • Part 3 – Single definition for 'chemical identity holder' (open for comment)
  • Part 4 – Known hazard classification update to SafeWork Australia document and minor editorial changes (for information only)
