Chemicals added to the Inventory five years after issue of assessment certificate - 19 July 2024

The following industrial chemicals have been added to the Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals in accordance with section 82 of the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019 because 5 years have passed since the assessment certificates for the industrial chemicals were issued.

Defined scope of assessment

The chemical has been assessed: 

  • as introduced into Australia for up to 100 tonnes/annum in neat powder form or as a paste at up to 23% concentration;
  • as reformulated for non-consumer products and used in fire retardant coatings at up to 15% concentration and at up to 1% concentration in polymer composites (such as rubber, polyurethanes and epoxies), textile coatings and concrete.
Specific information requirements

Introducers of the assessed chemical, including assessment certificate holders or persons covered by an assessment certificate, must advise the Executive Director within 20 working days if:

  • the assessed chemical is introduced with parameters significantly outside those stated in the assessment application, specifically particle size and size distribution, surface functionalisation, surface area, layer number, or impurities;
  • the assessed chemical is intended for use in food packaging;
  • the method of manufacture of the chemical in Australia has changed, or is likely to change, in a way that may result in an increased risk of an adverse effect of the chemical on human health or the environment.
