Open for comments by 8 September: information requirements for specified classes of introduction

We're inviting feedback on targeted information requirements for assessment certificate applications involving a specified class of introduction.

We especially encourage feedback from anyone who has previously applied for, is planning to apply for, or may apply for an assessment certificate involving a specified class of introduction. Our consultation is now open for public comment and we’re seeking your thoughts on whether the information requirements are:

• clear and easy to understand
• reasonable for applicants to provide
• missing any important information.

Why we're asking for feedback

Specified classes of introduction can involve higher hazards or greater exposure to people and the environment. As a result, applicants must provide additional targeted information for specified classes of introduction (or request a waiver), beyond the standard information required for certificate applications. These targeted information requirements already support our assessments, and we currently request these during the assessment process.

From 1 July 2027, applicants seeking an assessment certificate for a specified class of introduction will need to provide this targeted information through IUCLID as part of their application. The change will make them visible upfront, so applicants know what information they may need before applying and help us assess applications more efficiently and consistently.
