The AICIS Executive Director has varied the terms of Inventory listing under section 85 of the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019 for 2,297 chemicals shown in this list.
The list shows the varied ‘specific information requirement’ (SIR) term of each Inventory listing. The listings were varied on 25 July 2025.
The reason for the variations is that the Executive Director was satisfied that additional information should be included in the listings. The variations have no regulatory impact.
There are about 4,000 chemicals on the Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals (Inventory) with a specific information requirement (SIR) as a term of Inventory listing. Almost all Inventory listings that include an SIR were carried over from the former scheme, NICNAS*, through transitional laws.
*The National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (NICNAS) was the former scheme that AICIS replaced on 1 July 2020.
We have now varied the SIR term of Inventory listing for more than half of these chemicals and added details to make it easier for introducers to understand what information they are required to give to us.
This next version will reflect changes to the Inventory terms of listing for these chemicals.
There is no regulatory impact from these variations and introducers must continue to meet their obligations to provide information.
These changes are part of our commitment to make it easier for introducers to comply with specific information requirements.
We made these changes within current policy settings and after public consultation. For full details, see our 29 May 2025 announcement.
