This is a regulatory obligation on manufacturers and importers (introducers) to tell us certain information about their introduction of a chemical, but only if the circumstances of the introduction are significantly different to those of the assessment done by NICNAS or AICIS. The information helps us determine if we need to reassess a chemical.
Specific information requirement (SIR) is a term of Inventory listing on some chemicals on the Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals (Inventory).
It can also be an obligation for introducers following the issue of an assessment certificate.
