Variation to Inventory listing after evaluation: CAS No. 34036-80-1 - 20 August 2025

The specific requirement to provide information to AICIS as a term of the listing will be varied for 2-butanone, 2,2′,2′′-[O,O′,O′′-(phenylsilylidyne)trioxime] (CAS No. 34036-80-1) on the Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals (Inventory).

Reasons for varying the Inventory listing

AICIS completed an evaluation under Part 4 of the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019 (IC Act). AICIS published its final evaluation statement on 26 June 2025, following public consultation. This was a group evaluation for 2-butanone oxime (MEKO)-releasing silanes which contained 2-butanone, 2,2′,2′′-[O,O′,O′′-(phenylsilylidyne)trioxime] (CAS No. 34036-80-1).

For the reasons set out in page 11 paragraph 2 of the conclusions section of the evaluation statement, the Executive Director of AICIS concluded that a variation to the Inventory terms of listing for the chemical is necessary to manage the risks from the introduction of the chemical.

You must tell the Executive Director the volume of introduction, use and end use of the chemical within 20 working days if:

  •  The end use of the chemical has changed or is likely to change from:
    • Adhesives and sealants.
  • The amount of the chemical being introduced exceeds 100 tonnes.
  • The chemical has begun to be manufactured in Australia.
  • Information has become available to the person as to an adverse effect of the chemical on the environment.
