What to expect in the revised Categorisation Guidelines

The next annual release of the Industrial Chemicals Categorisation Guidelines (Guidelines) will include updates to acceptable test methods for demonstrating a chemical’s hazard characteristics and the list of chemicals with high hazards for categorisation (list). As part of these changes, we propose to:

  • update the acceptable test guidelines in appendix 8.4 of the Guidelines
  • add one new information source to the list
  • remove one information source from the list.

Changes to the list of 'list of chemicals with high hazards for categorisation’

For information only, routine updates to the list will include:

  • adding 286 entries
  • updating 548 existing entries
  • correcting the CAS numbers for 4 entries.

We will also make editorial changes to the Guidelines to improve clarity, consistency and overall formatting.
