Do you have Australian chemical use or hazard information that could support our evaluations?

We are seeking information on chemicals we are currently evaluating, for example how the chemical is used in Australia, concentration (%) levels and quantities. You can voluntarily submit this any time by completing the form below.

The table below shows the period within which the evaluation will be conducted, although we may publish it earlier if it's completed sooner. Publishing the subject, reason and time period for the evaluation meets the requirements of the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019 (IC Act) for initiating an evaluation. Once we list an evaluation on the RAP, it has officially been initiated by the AICIS Executive Director under section 74 of the IC Act.

Note, the spreadsheet does not include chemicals:

• not considered for in-depth evaluation – meaning chemicals that are not commercially active in Australia
• that are unlikely to require further regulation to manage risks to human health or the environment.

Recently completed evaluations

This section lists evaluations we've completed in the last 12 months.

You can read a summary of outcomes and feedback that we received before finalising these evaluation statements.     

We use our Evaluation Selection Analysis (ESA) process to identify and prioritise industrial chemicals that may pose a risk to human health or the environment. 

The ESA process also helps us identify chemicals that are unlikely to require further regulatory action. For these chemicals, we may publish an evaluation statement that explains the available information and our reasons for not doing a more detailed evaluation.

Our Evaluations Roadmap outlines our strategic approach to protecting human health and the environment. By prioritising chemicals on the Inventory, we can do evaluations that are timely, targeted and proportionate to the potential risks.

When we update our planned evaluation work

The chemicals covered by an evaluation may change as new information becomes available during the evaluation process. We'll update information on this page if we make amendments.

We generally update the RAP when we publish completed evaluations. We notify stakeholders of these updates through a website notice. 

At the same time, we add newly initiated evaluations to the table above. We may also update information about an evaluation, including the: 

• evaluation subject
• reason for the evaluation
• planned timeframe for completing the evaluation.

We may need to make updates for a range of reasons, including when: 

• an adverse event indicates that a chemical should be evaluated
• a stakeholder request to evaluate a chemical is prioritised through the ESA process
• a post-assessment obligation leads to a chemical being selected for evaluation
• new information becomes available that supports the need for a chemical evaluation.

As an evaluation progresses, the chemicals covered by the evaluation may change if new information becomes available.

We may need to update the RAP at other times. If we do, we’ll publish a website notice outlining the changes.
