What to expect in the annual Guidelines update

Our annual update to the 'list of chemicals with high hazards for categorisation' will come into effect in September 2026 and include:

  • addition of 249 chemicals
  • updates to 121 chemical entries
  • removal of 2 chemicals and correction of one chemical's CAS number.

Open for comment until 28 January 2026

We're seeking your feedback on these changes which are also planned for the September 2026 Guidelines:

  1. We will add 5 more chemicals to part 6.5.2 of the Guidelines because their salts or esters have been identified as having potential developmental toxicity – do you think any other chemicals should also be added to part 6?
  2. We will replace the current dual definition of 'chemical identity holder' with a single new definition – do you agree with this updated definition?
